All the central employees are keeping an eye on the 8th Pay Commission. Now a new update is coming out regarding this. In a conversation with Jagran, it has been learned that the government can soon issue the Terms of Reference i.e. TOR of the 8th Pay Commission. The Cabinet Secretary has given this assurance to the National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery.
New Delhi. Everyone is eagerly waiting for the 8th Pay Commission. Under this, big decisions can be taken regarding the salary and allowances of employees and pensioners. Citing media reports, it was being said that the 8th Pay Commission may be implemented by the end of 2026 or 2027.
Now a big update has come regarding its TOR.
What is the update regarding TOR?
Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary of the National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM), an organization that communicates between the central government and employees, has said that the organization met Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan this week and raised the issue of delay in TOR. In response, the Cabinet Secretary assured that the TOR will be issued soon.
Earlier, it was told through a circular that recruitment was done for 35 posts for the 8th Pay Commission. This shows that the process has been started by the government.
What is the objective?
It is being speculated in the media report that the basic salary may increase under the 8th Pay Commission. It is being said that the salary of government employees can be increased from Rs 18 thousand to Rs 26 thousand. However, no confirmation has been made about this yet.
Let us tell you that the Pay Commission is constituted every 10 years in the country. Its purpose is to review the salary, allowances and pension benefits given to all government employees and pensioners. About 50 lakh government employees and 65 lakh pensioners are going to benefit from the 8th Pay Commission.
Good news will come regarding dearness allowance
Along with the 8th Pay Commission, all government employees may also get good news regarding dearness allowance. If media reports are to be believed, the dearness allowance of government employees for June to December 2025 may increase more than last time.
For January-June 2025, there was an increase of only two percent in dearness allowance. However, looking at the inflation figures, experts believe that this time a three percent increase has been estimated. Currently, the DA of central government employees and pensioners is 55 percent. The next revision may be announced in October or November.
