The Meteorological Department has issued a serious warning regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Jharkhand from today until October 4th. During this period, light to moderate rainfall is expected in almost all districts of the state, with heavy rainfall in some districts. Let’s take a look at the weather conditions across Jharkhand.
Jharkhand Weather: The Meteorological Department has issued a severe warning regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Jharkhand from today until October 4th. During this period, light to moderate rainfall is expected in almost all districts of the state, with heavy rainfall in some districts. The department has urged people to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, as strong winds and thunderstorms are possible.
This rain system is being activated by a low-pressure area over the west-central Bay of Bengal. This cyclonic circulation, extending up to 9.6 kilometers above sea level, is expected to intensify into a depression within the next 12 hours. This system is expected to cross the coasts of southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh on the morning of October 3rd, increasing the likelihood of heavy rainfall in Jharkhand.
Rain will occur here
On October 2nd, heavy rainfall will occur in West Singhbhum and Simdega districts. On October 3rd, heavy rainfall is expected in Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan districts. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Chatra, Garhwa, and Palamu. On October 4th, isolated heavy rainfall is possible in Dumka, Godda, Pakur, Sahibganj, Chatra, Garhwa, and Palamu districts.
The Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alerts. Areas under the orange alert face the risk of landslides, disruption of supplies and transportation, damage to crops and trees, as well as loss of life and property. Areas under the yellow alert face the risk of minor crop damage and waterlogging.
As a precaution, the Meteorological Department has advised avoiding fishing and camping in rivers, strengthening thatched houses, immediately moving away from landslides or low-lying valleys, and avoiding building near steep slopes. It also stressed the importance of keeping drains clear, walking cautiously in flowing water, and checking the ground’s strength.
