There is a news of relief for millions of elderly people of the country, where there is a discussion going on to increase the minimum pension under the EPS-95 scheme from ₹ 1,000 to ₹ 7,500. If this proposal gets approved, there will be an increase of about 650%.

Pension Hike India 2025: A big news is coming out for pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS-95). According to reports, there is a discussion going on to increase the minimum pension from Rs 1000 to Rs 7500, which is a tremendous increase of 650%. However, there has been no official confirmation from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) or the government regarding this increase yet.

Pension may be 7,500
According to media reports, the minimum pension under EPS-95 is likely to be increased to Rs 7500. Along with this, pensioners can also get the benefit of increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). This move can be a relief news for about 78 lakh pensioners of the country, especially inflation has increased so much.

However, EPFO has clarified in an RTI reply that the minimum pension of Rs 7500 has not been approved yet. A high-level monitoring committee had recommended the minimum pension to be Rs 2000, but the Finance Ministry did not accept it. The EPS-95 National Agitation Committee met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and demanded a minimum pension of Rs 7500 and free medical facilities. The committee says that the current pension of Rs 1000 is insufficient to meet the basic needs in today’s time.

What is EPS-95 scheme?
EPS-95 is a social security scheme launched in 1995, which provides minimum pension to organized sector employees after retirement. This pension is based on employee contributions and budgetary support from the government. Many media reports and news of Rs 7500 pension and Rs 50,000 bonus are going viral on social media, but EPFO has urged pensioners to check updates only on the official website and avoid misleading information.

Pensioners and their organizations are expecting the government to officially announce this increase in the upcoming budget. If this proposal is implemented, it will not only bring financial relief to the elderly but will also increase their self-esteem.
