Microsoft Layoffs: After tech giant Google, now Microsoft is also going to lay off about six thousand employees. That is, the company is going to show the way out to about 3 percent of the total staff. This will include employees of all levels and it will have a huge impact on the company. Earlier, Microsoft had laid off 10 thousand employees in the biggest layoff in the year 2023. After this, this is the second biggest layoff.
The staff affected by the layoffs are also being given two options by the company, in which the first option is that the employees will be given 60 days salary after their service ends. Also, the affected staff will be eligible for rewards and bonuses. In a statement, a Microsoft spokesperson told CNBC that we will continue to make the necessary organizational changes for the success of the company in the dynamic market.

Apart from this, the staff being laid off on the basis of performance will either be given some time frame for improvement or they can also opt for a Global Voluntary Separation Agreement with 16 weeks of severance pay.
As of June 2024, last year, the total number of employees in Microsoft was 228000, out of which 1985 staff are in Washington alone. In such a situation, three percent of its global staff is being fired by the company. Explaining this decision, the company has cited cost control and heavy investment in artificial intelligence (AI) as the reason for this.
