If you are employed and have not yet activated your UAN number or linked your bank account with Aadhaar, then there is no need to panic. EPFO has extended the last date for this work. Let’s know what is the new deadline
If you are employed and have not activated your UAN (Universal Account Number) yet, then there is good news for you. EPFO i.e. Employees Provident Fund Organization has extended the last date for linking UAN and bank account linked to Aadhaar. This opportunity is especially beneficial for those employees who want to take advantage of the government’s ELI scheme.
What is the last date for linking UAN and Aadhaar?
EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organization) has once again extended the last date for linking Universal Account Number (UAN) and Aadhaar. Now employees can activate their UAN and link the bank account linked to Aadhaar till 30 June 2025. This step is a relief news for those employees who have not been able to complete this process till now. This linking is especially necessary to take advantage of the ELI (Employment Linked Incentive) scheme, which was launched by the Central Government in Budget 2024.
What is UAN and why is it important?
UAN is a 12 digit number issued by EPFO to every salaried employee. This number helps in bringing your PF (Provident Fund) details in one place, no matter how many jobs you have changed. With UAN activated, employees can check their PF balance online, download passbook, claim for withdrawal or transfer and update personal details. Hence, it is very important to activate UAN so that one can avail all the online facilities.
How to activate UAN?
The process of activating UAN is very easy. The employee has to go to the EPFO Member Portal and click on the ‘Activate UAN’ option. After this, the required information has to be filled like UAN number, Aadhaar number, date of birth and mobile number. After this, a One-Time Password (OTP) linked to Aadhaar will come which has to be filled and confirmed. Once the process is completed, a password will be sent to the registered mobile number through which login can be done.
Benefits and necessary conditions of ELI scheme
Under the ELI scheme, eligible employees will be given financial benefits, but for this it is necessary to have an active UAN and a bank account linked to Aadhaar. There are three types of ELI scheme A, B and C and this condition is mandatory for all three schemes. If you have not activated UAN or linked Aadhaar, then you will not be able to take advantage of this scheme. This scheme is an important step towards strengthening the transparency of the government and the digital management system of employee benefits.
