Ghatsila by-election: “The path is very complicated,” what did Champai Soren say about his son’s defeat? The JMM also issued a statement.

Ghatshila By-election: The JMM won a landslide victory in the Ghatshila by-election, where Somesh Chandra Soren defeated Babulal Soren of the BJP. Following his son’s defeat, Champai Soren reiterated his resolve to continue his fight.

In the Ghatsila Assembly by-election in Jharkhand, JMM’s Somesh Chandra Soren defeated BJP’s Babulal Soren by a huge margin of 38,524 votes. While this election is a major victory for the JMM, the result comes as a personal blow to senior party leader and former Chief Minister Champai Soren.

The BJP candidate for this seat was Champai Soren’s son, Babulal Soren. Following his son’s defeat, JMM leader Champai Soren issued a detailed statement reiterating his resolve to continue his ideology and fight.

What did Champai Soren say?
In his statement, Champai Soren made it clear that his fight is bigger than electoral victory or defeat.

He said, “Our fight in Jharkhand is against the changing demography and conversions caused by infiltrators, and to protect the language, culture, tradition, and existence of the tribal community.”

Accepting defeat, he said, “I know this path is very difficult, and there will be many obstacles, but we will not give up. Thank you to all the supporters in the Ghatsila assembly constituency. This time, perhaps we were not successful in convincing the public, that is why…”

‘Tribalism must survive’
Champai Soren, describing victory and defeat as a part of politics, said, “I clearly believe that elections will come and go, there will be wins and losses, but our society must survive, our existence must survive, tribalism must survive, otherwise everything will be destroyed.”

He warned, “The day we fail to protect the lands of the tribal community and the sons of the soil, who have become minorities in many districts, including Pakur and Sahibganj, and the dignity of the daughters-in-law and daughters living there, we will be defeated.”

The JMM leader reiterated his resolve, saying that his struggle to protect the land and religion and culture of the tribals and indigenous people of Jharkhand will continue, and that he will continue to protest whenever atrocities are committed against them.

What did the JMM say?
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha also issued a statement on this victory. Hemant Soren’s wife and MLA Kalpana Soren said of the victory that the conscious and respectful people of Ghatsila have once again written a golden chapter in the pages of history.

She further said, “Dear brothers and sisters of Ghatsila, I express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks for the immense love, blessings, and trust you have showered on Somesh Soren.”
