Jharkhand News: Chaibasa DC issued a statement saying that in the light of the instructions of the Chief Minister, Jagmohan Soren, Jharkhand Government Servant has been suspended with immediate effect for the indecent act in the government office shown in the video.
A case of indiscipline and addiction in a government office has come to light from Chaibasa Collectorate in Jharkhand, where a video of a public servant Jagmohan Soren smoking a cigarette in the office went viral on social media. As soon as the video surfaced, there was a stir in the entire administrative department and as soon as the matter reached Chief Minister Hemant Soren, instructions were given for immediate action.
The Chief Minister considered this incident as a serious violation against government service and office discipline and directed the Chaibasa DC to take action. The DC has immediately suspended Jagmohan Soren as per the instructions of the Chief Minister.
Video of smoking cigarette openly in office went viral
According to the incident, public servant Jagmohan Soren working in Chaibasa Collectorate was seen smoking cigarette openly during office hours. Someone recorded his act on mobile phone and shared it on social media. The video went viral within a few hours and it started getting sharp criticism on many platforms. It can be clearly seen in the video that the concerned employee is smoking cigarette while sitting among government documents, which is a gross violation of office etiquette and rules.
Chief Minister took cognizance, ordered immediate suspension
After the video went viral, Chief Minister Hemant Soren himself took cognizance of the matter. Considering it as an indecent conduct, he directed the District Magistrate of Chaibasa to take immediate action. At the same time, in a statement issued by Chaibasa DC, it was said that in the light of the Chief Minister’s instructions, Jagmohan Soren, a public servant, has been suspended with immediate effect under clause 9 (a) of the Jharkhand Government Servant (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules-2016 for the indecent act in the government office shown in the video. Along with this, the Deputy Development Commissioner has also been instructed to initiate disciplinary action.
Warning for employees, discipline is necessary in public service
This incident has once again made it clear that decency and responsibility are expected from employees working in government service. Smoking and intoxication in office premises is not only illegal but also against administrative dignity.
