Jharkhand High Court orders Water Resources Department to follow instructions within four weeks

Jharkhand High Court: Jharkhand High Court has ordered the Water Resources Department to comply with the court’s instructions within four weeks. The matter is about not paying the correct salary. In this, the applicant alleges that despite being appointed in the fourth grade, he was asked to do third grade work. But he was given the salary of fourth grade only.

Rana Pratap: While hearing the contempt petition, the court of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi of Jharkhand High Court directed the state government to follow the order of the High Court. During the hearing of the case on Friday, the court expressed displeasure over the non-compliance of the order by the Secretary and Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Department. They were directed to follow the order within four weeks.

The government is misleading the court- the applicant

During the hearing of the case, Principal Secretary of Water Resources Department Prashant Kumar, Chief Engineer Mohd Jamil Akhtar, Chief Engineer Sanjeev Kumar and Executive Engineer Ranjit Kujur were present in the court in person. Earlier, the state government informed that the applicant has been paid his salary. But the applicant opposed it. The applicant told the court that the government is misleading the court by making wrong calculations.

What is the petition

It is known that this case is related to an employee working in the Water Resources Department. Lakhan Prasad Yadav, employed on a Class IV post in the office of Tenughat Water Resources Department, has been made to do the work of a Class III employee for 20 years. On this, he filed a petition in the court and demanded the same salary as a Class III post.

SC upheld the order of the High Court

In this petition, Lakhan said that after being appointed to a Class IV post, he is being asked to do the work of a Class III post. But he is being paid Class IV salary. Jharkhand High Court directed the government to pay Class III salary. The government went to the Supreme Court in this matter, but the Supreme Court also said that the High Court order was correct.
